Department at a Glance

 

The Department of Home Science was founded in 1946. Three year Degree Course in Home Science started on regular basis from 1976. Mrs. Shakuntala Singh (1946-1955) was the founder Head of the Department.  Subsequently Dr. (Prof.) Pramila Verma  (1955-1991), Dr. Prof. Geeta Pushp Shaw (1991-1994),  Dr. prof.) Asha Khare (1994-1997), Dr.(Prof.) Geeta Pushp Shaw (1997-2003), Dr. (Prof. Sadhana Singh (20p3-2004),  Dr.Prof Usha Singh (2004-2005), Dr. Sudarshan Chauhan (2005-2011) were designated as heads of the Department. The present head, Dr Anju Srivastava took over charge in August, 2011. Postgraduate teaching started in the Department in 1984. The Department is working as Postgraduate Department of Home Science, Patna University and discharging all administrative and professional functions of the university. At present there are 03 permanent teachers and 05 on contract basis. The Research Scholars have also engaged few classes.
