Department of Sociology has introduced a number of self financing vocational courses focusing on Social Problems related to Women and Children for development and empowerment of Women. These Vocational Courses include Bachelor Degree Course in Social Work, P.G. Diploma in Women and Child Welfare and Population Education. Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) Course was started in the year 2007 with the approval of Vice Chancellor office letter No PU 44/2007-2442/GS (1) dt.20-7-2010.  Dr. Renu  Ranjan Head, Dept of Sociology was the founder Coordinator.  Dr. Dharmshila Prasad became the o-coordinator in 2009. She has been elevated to Head of the University Department of Sociology. BSW is one of the potentials career courses which has immense professional opportunity. Pass out students may get placement in NGO, State & Central Government, Welfare departments and Social Research Projects. This course has contemporary relevance in the development of society especially the underprivileged communities.
