Magadh Mahila College is one of the few premier colleges, which provides quality education in Computer Applications. The B A /B Sc in Computer Applications (BCA) programme was introduced in the year 2000. The Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications (PGDCA) was introduced in the year 2004. The Master in Computer Applications (MCA) is likely to be introduced from the next academic session. These courses are specifically aimed at producing competent software professionals to meet the demands of the fast growing IT industry at a global level.

Our students have been doing extremely well and have secured top positions at the final university examinations of Patna University. The seventh batch of our students will be graduating soon. It’s a matter of pride for the department that for the sixth consecutive year all the students secured first division and the department achieved 100% result. 

The course is designed so that it emphasizes both theoretical and practical aspects. The department imparts computer education to students through classroom lectures; computer aided teaching materials, seminars, assignments, visits to Industries, project work and arranging guest lectures by eminent IT and ICT experts. Apart from activities to excel in academics, students are also encouraged to actively participate in seminars on IT, cultural activities, NSS, NCC and sports for all round development of their personalities. Our students are now employed with reputed organizations in India and abroad viz Infosys, TCS, American Express, Stock Exchange Corporation, Philips etc.
 
The department has grown tremendously under the efficient supervision of Prof Padmavathy Srinivasan, the founder Coordinator of this programme and all the Principals, who have extended their full support and constant encouragement. The department is particularly indebted to the Ex-Principal Late Prof Phullara Sinha, who was instrumental in establishing the department. Starting with only five computers donated by Smt Kamala Sinha, MP, presently there are 64 systems all networked and having broad-band internet facility. There are fully air conditioned laboratories and a computerized seminar library.

The young and dynamic team of teachers and supporting staff who have worked with dedication, devotion and discipline have contributed largely towards the extraordinary growth of the department. Without their active cooperation and participation, the department would not have developed so much in such a short span of time.

Apart from conducting regular courses i.e. B A/B Sc in Computer Applications (BCA) and Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications (PGDCA), the department also runs a certificate course in Computer Applications (CIC) for the benefit of all students, teachers and staff of the college. The department in association with the Academic Staff college, Patna university, also organizes the UGC sponsored Orientation courses and Refresher courses in IT and  e-learning for the university teachers.
